The four capacity additions mark the company’s most significant organic growth investment in some years.
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA — Saint-Gobain stated today, through its building goods subsidiary CertainTeed, that it will spend more than $400 million to expand production capacity at four important manufacturing facilities in the United States in order to better serve its customers in a strong growth environment.
The four capacity expansions represent Saint-largest Gobain’s organic growth investment in several years, as the company implements its newly announced global Grow and Impact strategy, which includes maximizing its impact in key, fast-growing markets while minimizing the company’s environmental footprint. When compared to present production technologies, the combined expenditures will cut waste by more than 50% and carbon dioxide emissions by more than 20%.
“This is an investment in the future of our company, as well as in our capacity to assure supply security for our customers,” said Mark Rayfield, CEO of Saint-Gobain North America and CertainTeed. “We will continue to seek chances to strategically grow and extend our business while seeking to become the world leader in light and sustainable building.”

The Chowchilla facility opened in 1978 and presently employs 179 people. The Athens facility opened in 1975 and presently employs 191 people.
